Hood River

This Friday night, Dave Russell of team NW Nike ACG will be hosting an overnight 12 hr training race in the Columbia Gorge. As a rehearsal for next month's RAID, our team is planning to hit the trails at 8:00pm and run/bike/paddle thru the night targeting an 8:00am finish.

We'll follow the RAID format and use GPS for navigation. The course length will be 35-40 miles with kayaking, trekking, trail running, Mt. biking and roller blading legs planned. There will be about 10 orienteering type markers with punches at each checkpoint. The start and finish will be on the waterfront in Hood River.

This training event is completely unsupported. There is no support staff, no medical support, no one to come find you if you get lost. You are entirely responsible for yourself. Prepare accordingly.

To participate, you will need at least one crew member and a vehicle to transport team gear to the various legs. You will need team kayaks, mt. bikes, and full mandatory race gear, (plus transation gear) and a cell phone. This is also a "rehearsal" for the crew to practice gear logistics.

A link to the details of the course, GSP coordinates and printable maps will be posted here by Thursday morning.

The long range weather is looking pretty good, and the moon is waning gibbous. We'd love to have some company out there. If you are interested RSVP directly to dave@summitprojects.

(NOTE: Please use the RSVP link below this post, after you log in. Dave will get an email notice when you do. --Thanks, Shane)
