Nighttime Trek at Forest Park

What: Nighttime Trekking/Running Session. Approx 17 miles in length, Emphasis on Trekking at a 24 hour pace, not bolting through at a shorter racepace. I imagine about 15 min miles. We will, as always, form groups to fit all fitness levels involved. When: Saturday The 29th commencing at 10 pm. Plan on a 4-5 hour session, so yes you will be out late. Where: Forrest Park. Meet at the Germantown Road TH. There are specific directions in a number of places on this forum, if you want them again, let me know. I'll email them to you. Mandatory Gear: Headlamp, with sufficient batteries for 6 hours. Water/Fluid for 6 hours of exertion. Food for 6 hours of Exertion. Head covering, for warmth. Technical fleece top, or similar in layers. Use 2+ layers to be able to adapt to exertion/weather changes. Wind/rain proof top. Technical bottoms. for warmth/comfort and mosture control. Outdoor essential basics- Matches/Lighter/1st aid/Space Blanket/Chemlights(2 any color)/Mirror/Whistle(for night signaling)/Knife w/locking blade. Pack to hold it all. ______________________________________________ Do yourself a training favor and load your pack with at least 20 pounds for all training seesions. This is the average weight of your pack for a 24 hour race, so training without this much at least, will result in a nasty suprise come race day. As always bring anything else you feel you need to stay comfortable and train efficiently. Just remember to minimize weight whenever possible.
