Fat, Slow, and getting old

Okay, bear with me for a minute.

As recently as 10 years ago I was the
ideal candidate to start adventure racing.
I was an avid trekker/backpacker. I competed
in Triathlons and Marathons. I paddled
white water.

First I got married. Then I got hurt (back).
Flash forward to the present and I find myself
60 lbs over weight, unable to run more than a
mile or two, and turning 40.

I have always wanted to get into adventure racing and would like to use it as part of
my motivation to begin getting back in shape.
(Maybe this is my own private mid-life crisis.)

Anyway, if there is anybody out there with advice for or interest in training with a
somewhat broken down war-horse, let me know.

I am glad to see that there is finally a group
like this in Portland. Its about time.

Have a great day,

Dave
