Mid-week hikes in the Gorge

Wahkeena Trail Head

With daylight savings coming early, it's time to start the mid-week hikes again. This is the third year I've been planning these.

I'll email everyone who wants to be notified by Monday afternoon at the latest with details for that week's hike.

The hikes will vary between 3 1/2 - 5 miles in length, and won't last longer than 2 hours. The pace will be attainable, don't worry about not being able to "keep up." The point of these is to get us in shape for summer activities.

Mt. Defiance: Starvation Creek Trailhead

As promised, I will be leading a climb up good old Mt Defiance this coming Saturday 2-14-2004. For those of you who don't know, Mt D is a very good training climb. With 5000 feet of elevation gain in approx. 6 miles, this is one 12 mile round trip that makes you feel it. This is basically a non-technical climb, with the only specialized equipment needed being snowshoes for the top 2 miles or so. A short side hike from my regular route shows you an awesome little lake which will undoubtedly be frozen over.
