Terra Traverse Quebec will launch its first event October 4th- 10th, 2008. The first Terra Traverse event will include 75 four-person co-ed teams covering approximately 600 kilometers across the beautiful and stunning terrain of Quebec, Canada.

Terra Traverse will offer a cash purse of $100,000 including stage prizes and primes.

Terra Traverse and race directors Ian Adamson and Isaac Wilson, have teamed up to create a groundbreaking adventure. Combining the very best elements from previous events, Terra Traverseâ„¢ integrates aspects of traditional expedition racing, staged races, time trials and other new and exciting elements.

Race activities include jungle trekking, mountain biking, sea kayaking, navigation and team challenges over a course of between 70 and 145 kilometers (depending on the route – PRO or SPORT). Traveling through the day and into the night, the route uncovers the diverse and rugged terrain of the area. After a long night of racing, the sun creeping up over the distant horizon will be a welcome sight. Arriving at the finish after completing this grueling course will give you an incredible sense of achievement.

Roger Michel, an accomplished member of Seattle-based adventure racing team MerGeo.com, is putting on a winter race on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007. I'll post more details as they become available. Save the date if you're ready for some snowshoe trekking!

This is a really fun orienteering event - offering 8, 12 and 24-hour versions. It's the 2006 US Rogaine Championship Event.
The SportIdent electronic punch system will be used at this event. Map: enhanced 1:24000 USGS topo map, with 40 foot contours
An expected 60 controls will be located within an elevation range of 1900-3800 feet in a roughly 40 square mile area. The hash house is located at an elevation of 2400 feet.
