Gorge Winds Training Race
Submitted by drussell

event date:
location:
Saturday, April 19, 2008 - 10:00am
Hood River, Oregon

I'm hosting a training race workout in Hood River on Saturday April 19th. It's completely unofficial and unsupported. If you are interested in joining us, please RSVP ahead of time directly to Dave

Here's how it's shaping up:

Starting in Hood River, it will be a kayak based "backbone" course to simulate what we'll get at the Lake Mead Desert Winds race in May. We'll paddle, get out, do some short orienteering loops on bike or foot, paddle again, get out, repeat... I even have a great rappel option on some beautiful basalt cliffs if you are up for it.

Hoyt Arboretum and Washington Park, Portland OR

Hoyt Arboretum and Washington Park make up a classic venue for orienteering. Near the core of the metro area, the park offers idyllic paths for beginning courses and areas of old growth forest for advanced bush bashing (with heavy elevation change). White, Yellow, Orange, and Green courses will all be offered, making this one of our most convenient spots to try out an advanced orienteering course.

Hi Gang,

SO, since it is the Holidays, and we haven't done one for quite awhile, we have arranged for a Shopping Spree at Next Adventure on Wed. December 14, 2005.

This is a perfect opportunity to get AR Gear, Ski and Snowboard Gear, Mountaineering Gear, Kayaking Gear or any other outdoor gear you need to get through the winter. It is also a great opportunity to take care of those outdoor sports fanatics on your Christmas gift list.

So come one, come all and bring your friends, family and casual acquaintances to this fun event(Great time to bring someone and HINT at what you want for Christmas:)).

As always, we have arranged AWSOME deals above and beyond our normal club benefit as well as refreshments and the incredibly popular door prizes (ask any past winners, we give away cool gear by the boat load!). This years door prizes will be 100% free. In other words, all attendee's get one free raffle ticket instead of purchasing them as in the past.
