NYARA Announcements

(Updated October 16th, 2008)

Thanks to all who came out to Hoboken for our NYARA Social event last week. With the country in a shambles, you'd think we would have discussed the economy, healthcare or shooting wolves from helicopters, but the main topic was adventure racing and what's in store for 2009. Photos are posted HERE. Stay tuned for more social events coming up soon.

The Shag 26-Hour Race is complete and once again was a tremendous success. Our fantastic and foxy race directors Jim Kerlin and Sam Scaturro designed a top-notch course and for the most part, Mother Nature cooperated by not pouring on the racers.

BIG THANK YOU to Ben Scaturro Sr, Ben Scaturro Jr, Alpine Painting and Contracting, the Godfather of East Coast Adventure Racing-Jonathan Neely, Jim Mertz, Betsy Rosalen and Jeff, Hudson Valley Outfitters, Hudson Valley Pack and Paddle, and Storm King Adventure Tours. NYARA salutes you!

Tips and Tricks from the Experts

When the marshal at the checkpoint tells you the expected length of the next leg remember that the teams in front of you are faster than you and you're unlikely to match what they have done.
